Accounts reaching London of the Japanese capture of Palembang, in Sumatra, all speak with the utmost ad-
miration: of the spirit of the Dutch
authorities and people which has showed itself in the unhesitating destruction of rthls'vast oil centre. i The capture intact-by the Japanese bf the 25,000,000-dollar- oil centre would have been the greatest single prize in the whole area. Howe;^. the Dutch appeared to have carried out the destruction very completely, and all th^at th 4 Japanese have captured is in flames and,smoke.
