DEMOCRATIC CAUSE

SUPPORT BY EGYPT

RUGBY, February 16.

A correspondent in Cairo cables that in an interview with war correspondents, Mustafa Nahas Pasha, head of Egypt's all-Wafdist new Cabinet, said:

"Undoubtedly you have noticed the immense help that has been given by Egypt to her ally. We do so not only in accordance with the provisions of the treaty, but also because we, as much as anyone, are interested-in a victory for the democracies.

"We want victory for liberties and for those who are fighting for the dignity of man and for his freedom, as we are democrats. Democracy is in peril, and it demands the help of all who believe in democracy and who consider it their second religion."

The Premier added: "We are bound with Britain by a friendly treaty guaranteeing our respective rights. The Arabian States are bringing their solidarity to the peoples who want to live in freedom and independence.—B.O.W.
