NATIONAL BANK STAFF

Mr. J. R. Frethey, chief accountant of the National Bank of New Zealand, will retire on March 31. Mr. Frethey joined the bank at Wellington in 1902. He was on the general manager's staff after experience at the Wellington branch. He will be succeeded by Mr. W. E. Monk, at present assistant manager at the Auckland branch. Mr. Monk entered the bank's service at New Plymouth in 1908 and in turn has been attached to the Christchurch and Auckland branches; later he was on the general manager's staff, and he had also served as audit officer and subinspector before becoming assistant manager. Mr. Monk will be succeeded by Mr. H W. Whyte, at present attached to the general manager's office. Mr. Whyte joined the bank at Port Chalmers in 1920. After service there and at Dunedin, he came to Wellington, later being sent to the bank's branch in London. There he looked into various aspects of. bankmg, including mechanisation.
