PETROL^IANXn_UVRING. Auckland.—Tfe Government is considering an amendment to the Transport Licensing Act extending licences issued by transport licensing authorities for the duration of the war. Discussing this today the No. 1 Licensing Authority, Mr. Phelan, said it was a measure to further conserve petrol. Many operators.had tq -travel long distances to Support their renewal applications, necessitating the' use of large, quantities of petrol, The easing of the petrol situation has resulted in a restoration of certain Auckland district passenger service licences and an amendment of the licences for transport of mails. —P.A.
