VEGETABLES FROM W.W.S.A.

This weekend again saw numbers of soldiers and airmen crowding the Y.W.C.A. Blue Triangle Hall. Saturday's programme included games and dancing before tea. Afterwards dancing was held to the music of Johnson's Orchestra and supper was provided by the Brooklyn Anglican Guild. Mrs. H. It. Cameron was hostess. The minister for Sunday's service was the Rev. W. Parker, of Trinity Methodist Church. After tea a concert programme was presented by Mr. Norman Aitken and party. Those who took part were Mrs. A. Woodward and Messrs. N. and K. Aitken and E. E. Dean, and A. Elston. The hostess was Mrs. S. T. Kirby. Many good friends of the Y.W.C.A. helped over the weekend. Generous donations of vegetables were sent by three gardening circles of the W.W.S.A.—Lower Hutt, Paraparaumu, and Russell Terrace.

CINDERELLAS ENTERTAIN. On Sunday there was a very large attendance at the Cinderella Club for afternoon tea, which was dispensed by the president, and a large crowd for a meal which included hot roast lamb and mint sauce, new potatoes, peas, and beans, all of which had been donated. Servicemen also thronged the club on Friday night, when music was provided by .Gordon Marple. A club member, Mrs. Betty Crichton, has been appointed a postwoman in Wellington, one of the two first to relieve men in this sphere for Army service. The committee would be grateful for the donation or loan of an electric fan for the club rooms during the summer months. NEW ELECTRIC GRAMOPHONE. Tlie girls of Webby's Club attended in full force over the weekend to entertain the large numbers of men who were their guests. The members of the committee arranged the room with large bowls of flowers sent in from Eastbourne and were much admired. A new electric gramophone has been installed and the girls wish to thank the men who made the installation. On Sunday large numbers arrived for tea, i with dancing afterwards. An eightpiece orchestra supplied the music. The suppers were, as usual, provided by a band of women interested in "Webby's," which is situated at 61 I Lower Cuba Street. TOC H APPEALS FOR GIFTS. A dance was held on Friday in the 1 Toe H Rooms (216 Lambton Quay, opIposite Kirkcaldie and Stains) for men of the Fighting Services. An excellent supper was served, and dinner, tea, and supper were also served on Sunday, and were very much enjoyed by the men. On Sunday evening a concert programme was presented, Mrs. Tur-ner-Cottier being in charge of the I music and Miss Esme Crow of the I | other items. Gifts of flowers, cakes, scones, and jam, pickles, etc., would be very much appreciated by the committee.
