ATTACKED BY R.A.A.F.
LONDON, January 8
Offensive action by planes of the Royal Australian Air Force is reported today in a communique from Melbourne.
This says that in an attack on a Japanese base in the Caroline Islands installations were damaged and a seaplane destroyed. Japanese planes have carried out a reconnaissance over the Bismarck Archipelago.
Today's Batavia communique says that seven enemy bombers yesterday made another attack on Amboina Island, in the Molucca Group. They caused little damage and few' casualties. • '."■"■ .'■■••
The communique adds that a single enemy plane dropped incendiaries on an aerodrome in an outer province of the Netherlands East Indies. No damage was done.
