DESTRUCTIVE HAILSTORM
(P.A.) ASHBURTON, January 8,
Heavy hail last evening is said to have completely destroyed 300 acres of wheat and about 150 acres of oats in the Lauriston district, and to have damaged other crops to an extent estimated at from 10 to 50 per cent. Crops have been cut down in places to the bases of the stalks.
