NAZI AMBASSADOR

RECALLED FROM ARGENTINA

(Rec. 11.30 a.m.) RUGBY, Jan. 2,

Information has reached London that, the German Ambassador in Buenos" Aires, yon Thermann, has been re»-. called to Berlin "to report to Hitler." •

The significance of this is that after ■> the expulsion of the German envoy to Bolivia, the centre of Nazi espionage, and fifth column work was transferred} to Buenos Aires to operate under the;' protection of diplomatic passports. If. yon Thermann succeeds in reaching Berlin it is thought likely that plans' will be worked out to counter the PanAmerican Conference on January 15 in Rio de Janeiro, the results of which will be known by the' time he gets to Berlin.

The Germans no doubt fear they will not have another chance of working against the United States in the. Western Hemisohem It may "be, therefore, that the talks with yon Thermann. will decide whether the work of the fifth column in South America has sufficiently advanced to warrant the success of the order from Berlin to organise simultaneous revolts in all the republics against their Governments.— 8.0.
