FORCEFUL BATTING
WELLINGTON'S WIN
Forceful batting by the Wellington Cricket Association's representatives gave a flourishing finish to the match in which the association's side met a combined team from the Hutt Valley Cricket Association and the Mercantile Cricket League at the Basin Reserve. When play was resumed after lunch yesterday Wellington, commencing its second innings, needed 139 runs to win. This task was completed comfortably, but the innings was carried beyond the requirement and there was any amount of sparkle about it. One of the opening batsmen, Mooney, who had kept wickets in fine style, gave a fine display and topped the century mark. His score included two "sixers," and both O'Brien and Lamason also made hits over the boundary in making tidy scores.
