CAPTURE OF NAZI GENERAL
ROMMEL IGNORES N.Z. DOCTORS
(Rec. 2.15 p.m.) LONDON, Dec. 2. . A New Zealand Bren gun carrier team captured the German General yon Ravenstein, according to ah eye-wit-ness. "."■'.;.' The New Zealanders encountered the general's car and shot the driver, whereupon General yon Ravenstein surrendered.
New Zealand doctors working at a Libyan dressing station who were cap-" tured by the Germans were ignored by * General Rommel when he,visited the station, reports a correspondent of the Associated Press of America. Both British and German wounded were at the station. General Rommel spoke to the Germans for several minutes, but did not say a word to the Ittew..Zealand doctors; who continued with their' !work. The station was later,recaptured by the British. ■ '. '■': An Italian communique states: "In the Sidi Rezegh area yesterday we took nearly 1500 prisoners, including the New Zealarider Brigadier Miles." A German communique claims the capture of over 9000 prisoners, including three senior officers, since the fighting began in Libya.
