IMPORTANT EXERCISES
Important exercises were held by the Manawatu group of the newlyforrned Lines of Communication Mechanical Transport Companies at Himatangj during last weekend. Officers and n.c.o.s of other companies assembled from Wellington, Masterton, Waipukurau, and Hastings.
The basic feature of the manoeuvres involved the delivery to a refilling point of loads of petrol and ammunition, and the exercises also included an experimental gas alarm and a camouflage practice. Features of the manoeuvres were studied from a vantage point by senior officers and other visitors. Major D. F Bauchop, Second in Command, Wellington District, and Captain Salt. District Adjutant, inspected the Manawatu Company. Major Bauchop expressed appreciation of the voluntary assistance in training given during weekends by officers and n.c.o.s of the Army Permanent Staff.
