NGATI-PONEKE ASSOCIATION
NEW PREMISES SOUGHT;
The Ngati-Ppneke Association is making an effort to secure larger premises, more suited to its numerous activities. . The membership of Ngati-Poneke. embracing the majority of Maori residents of both Wellington and suburbs, is representative of every major tribe in the Dominion. The purpose of the association is to encourage the younger people in particular to recapture and retain an atmosphere in which the best of Maori culture, art, custom, and language is preserved, while accepting a thorough understanding of the social and industrial life of the pakeha. Apart from this, the association has identified itself prominently with recruiting and the welfare of Maori soldiers . overseas. In patriotic work, Ngati-Poneke has given of its best, in mubh the same spirit that it responded in peacetime to many calls to assist deserving charitable objects and general welfare work throughout the Maori community. The proposal to establish new premises mort in keeping" with the present position of NgatiPoneke and to make provision for future expansion has been carefully considered. .
