OBITUARY
The late Mr. P. N. Rundle.
MR. P. N. RUNDLE
The death occurred at his residence in Lower Hutt yesterday of Mr. Philip Norman Rundle, at the age of 58. Connected for over 30 years with the Vacuum Oil Company, Mr. Rundle retired in September last year. From 1909 to 1912 he was the firm's account-
ant in Christchurch and Dunedin, and from 1913 to 1917 a salesman in Christchurch. In 1918 he was appointed the Dunedin- manager, coming to Wellington in 1921 as assistant manager. Two years later he was made sales manager for New Zealand. Prior to returning to Dunedin as manager in 1928, he was manager in Wellington. In 1938 he came back to Wellington again, failing health necessitating his retirement two years later.
Swimming was the main sport in which Mr. Rundle was interested, but m his younger days he was also prominent on the hockey field. For many years he was president of the New Zealand Swimming Association, and was also president of the Wellington and Otago Centres. In 1932 he was selected manager of the New Zealand Olympic team which competed at the Games. In the organisation of sport in general Mr. Rundle played a very prominent part, and his place will be hard to fill. He leaves a widow and two sons.
