SALADS ON THE MENU.

The change in the weather has affected the daily menu at the A.N.A. Club, and cold meats and salads have been substituted for some of the hot

dishes which were so popular throughout the winter. The A.N.A. reports a busy weekend. Yesterday the club was particularly full in the late afternoon and at night the Ngaio "Accordiana Rhythmics," who volunteered their services, were an outstanding success. Tlie executive warmly acknowledges the gift of a hamper of foodstuffs from A.N.A. Club helpers at Marton, per Mrs. S. Simpson. The club's comforts committee is arranging a shop day in Lambton Quay shortly and an appeal is made for the public's generous support. Funds raised will provide a Christmas party for the men still in camp at that time. CINDERELLA CLUB. Men of the Navy, as well as the Army and Air Force, attended the Cinderella Club on Friday, when a particularly large crowd of girls and servicemen were present. On Sunday a tasty tea was served by the girls, after which the crowd danced to music by Miss Wilkinson. Those responsible for the weekend entertainment were Misses N. McQuerny, E. Simpson, A. McNamara, M. Molloy, S. Valentine, D. Huggins. and K. Crist. TWO ENGAGEMENTS ANNOUNCED. At Webby's Club at the weekend the engagements of two of the ; members were announced—one to a member ,of the Air Force and the other to a returned soldier who was with the First Echelon of the Second N.Z.E.F. The club was crowded * and the men , fully enjo3red the hospitality provided. The large room was beautifully with quantities of flowers received from anonymous donors. Tlie girls were congratulated on the very successful stall they had manned for the R.S.A.'s recent appeal. They are now preparing for their first birthday, the celebrations extending over December 5, 6, and 7. ' Y.M.C.A/S SUNDAY TEA. Squadron Leader A. M. Manhire was in the chair for the soldiers' tea at the V.M.C.A. yesterday, when members of the ladies' auxiliary of the V.M.C.A. Boys' Division were the hostesses. Mrs. H. E. Brooker is president of the group. Squadron Leader Manhire, who was accompanied by his wife, was assisted by Mr. H. C. South and Captain Blanchard. The November birthday cake, a feature of the tea, was given by Mr. South. The many men present enjoyed solo item#' by Mrs. Pyle, Mr. V. Jones, and Private Kerr (songs). Sergeant-Major Barton and Master R. Moug (pianoaccordion). Private G. Kay (cornet), and a community sing led by Mr. Horace Brooker. The accompaniments were played by Mrs. Wakelin and Sergeant-Major Barton. The usual minute of silent prayer for the men overseas was observed. The hostesses and performers were warmly thanked by representatives of the men. POPULAR RENDEZVOUS. The Spinsters' Club was a popular rendezvous for servicemen yesterday, when a very big crowd was entertained by the members. Roses and early summer flowers were" arranged about the rooms. Music, dancing, games, and table tennis were enjoyed, as well as items (piano and cornet) given by two soldier guests. Hot and cold savouries, salads, sandwiches, and cakes, brought by- the members, were served at tea time. The dance at the club on Friday night was also well attended. LAND GIRLS GIVE VEGETABLES. Generous supplies of fresh vegetables from the Russell Street and the Paraparaumu W.W.S.A. land girls, and the regular numerous donations of cake and other foodstuffs, were again gratefully received by the Y.W.C.A Forces Hospitality Club for its weekend entertainment. The lounge and cafeteria were gay with flowers, and the hall presented a festive appearance on Saturday for the dancing to Mr. Johnson's orchestra. On Sunday a concert was arranged by Miss Audrea Lawson, and the evening service was conducted by Captain Pearson, of Trentham Military Camp. The weekend,helpers included Lower Hutt and Eastbourne W.W.S.A. canteen groups (kitchen). Mr. and Mrs. Robson, Messrs. Laking, Martin, Thompson, and Brake, and members of the Miramar Townswomen's Guild (cloakrooms). The St. John Ladies' Guild provided supper on Saturday.
