THIRTEEN THOUSAND MEN

(Rec. 12.30 p.m.) CANBERRA, Nov. 1. The Army Minister, Mr. F..M. Forde, announced that A.I.F. casualties — killed, wounded, missing, and prisoners of war—in the Middle East, Greece, Crete, Syria, and Abyssinia totalled 13,143 to September 25.

The total casualties suffered by United Kingdom and Dominion troops was 55,111, he said. The losses in the various armies were, approximately,- United Kingdom 29,176, the A.I.F. 13,143, New Zealand 6000, India 6600, South Africa 600.
