ATTACKS IN TWO ZONES

FRESH R.A.F. BLOWS

FOUR MEDITERRANEAN TARGETS

AXIS SUPPLY BASES

LONDON, October 31.

The R.A.F. today made extensive sweeps over the Channel and northern France. Benghazi and Tripoli also had their usual hammering, and the R.A.F. today attacked Heraclion and Suda Bay in Crete, the scene of previously fierce fighting.

At all four Mediterranean targets, Axis shipping and warehouses which supply the enemy forces in Libya were attacked.

Bardia was also attacked, and so was a landing ground in Libya. The weather was bad over Crete, but one merchant ship received a direct hit and a second ship was straddled.

From these and other operations six machines are missing.
