ITALIAN SHIPPING
TOLL BY GREEK SUBMARINES
LONDON, October 30
The First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr. A. V. Alexander, said today that 50,000 tons of Italian shipping had been sunk by Greek submarines. This shipping was engaged in supplying and transporting the'ltalian army.
Speaking of the Greek campaign, Mr. Alexander praised the chivalry with which the Greek forces covered the British withdrawal. He said it would never be forgotten by Britain, and it was no exaggeration to say that because of the Greek campaign Hitler had to postpone his attack on Russia by at least six weeks.
