WELLINGTON CITY MISSION
At a meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Wellington City Mission, held last week, the whole, of the mission's work and activities came under review. The members of the board considered that they had good reason to feel keen satisfaction at the evidence of the influence of the mission's work. Under the direction of the Missioner, the Rev. Harry Squires, all the activities of the mission are forging ahead at top speed. The boys* hostel provides full board and lodging for nearly 45 boys, while the Stop Out clubs, gymnasium, and hobbies' club supply an urgent need for the boys and young men of the district. An average of 70 old age pensioners receive a daily hot dinner, and find each day warmth, company, and congenial interests in their clubroom. The "Coster Fair," held last month in the Town Hall, was a tremendous success, and the Board of Trustees thank all those who contributed to that success by their unselfish and wholehearted work. The board feels that the mission must have a warm spot in the hearts of the gene-rous-hearted public of Wellington. Thanks to their generosity, and to the contributions received from many well-wishers, the bank overdraft has now been reduced to approximately £500. The board resolved to make a concentrated effort to wipe out that amount by March 31 next.
