WEDDING

WHITCHER—TOWNSEND,

The marriage of Frances Jessie, eldest daughter at Mr. and Mrs. F. W. Townsend, Petone, to Douglas Harold, second son of Mr. and Mrs. B. Whitcher, Lower Hutt, was solemnised by the Rev. J. E. Lopdell at St. Stephen's Presbyterian Church, Lower Hutt, recently.

A trained gown of cream embossed satin, and a hand-worked veil with a halo of orange blossoms were worn by the bride, who was attended by her sister, Miss Rose Townsend, and the Misses Ngaire Fisher and Mane Leoringe. Frocks of gold and eau-de-nu satin poult, and cartridge haloes of matching velvet ribbon were worn by the bridesmaids. The bridegroom was attended by Messrs. R. Clark, H. Whitcher, and S. Kirks. Mrs. Townsend, assisted by Mrs. Whitcher, received the guests at a reception held in the Masonic Hall. Items were given by Mrs. J. Dome, of Levin (who also sang "Because" during the wedding ceremony), and Mr. Prestige, and Mervyn and Winsome Smith.

A grey ensemble with navy accessories was worn by Mrs. D. H. Whitcher when she and her husband left by motor for a tour of the north.
