LEASE-LEND AID
AMENDMENTS REJECTED
LONDON, October 10,
The United States House of Representatives has rejected by a large majority a proposal that no part of the Lease-Lend funds should be used for the benefit of Russia or any other nation which practised Communism. Many speakers replied that they owed a debt of gratitude to Russia, and the. amendment was rejected by 162 votes to 21. The House of Representatives also turned down two amendments which sought to cut down expenditure under the Lease-Lend Act.
