"Thailand is but a single step from being involved in war," said the Bangkok radio today. Thai newspapers regard as ominous the news that the Japanese forces occupying Indo-China are about to hold large-scale manoeuvres on the plains of Cambodia.

Under new regulations, Thailand has closed three more frontier districts to foreigners.

(Rec. 1 p.m.) TOKIO, Sept. 23. The "Nichinichi Shimbun" says that Thailand must sooner or later side with the Axis, or with its opponents. The paper quotes a Bangkok report that 30,000 British troops, with mechanised equipment, are concentrated on the Malay-Thai border.
