ATTACKED BY R.A.F.
TARGETS IN RHINELAND
DAYLIGHT ACTIVITY
(Rec. 11 a.m.) RUGBY, Sept. 18. It is officially stated that Bomber Command aircraft attacked targets in the Rhineland again last night. An Air Ministry communique states: "Last night Coastal Command aircraft bombed the docks at St. Nazaire. None of our aircraft are missing." \
The Royal Air Force is reported to have been active over the Channel and also over northern France this afternoon. Visibility over the Straits of Dover was poor owing to haze when formations of aircraft, flying very high and coming from inland, passed out over the sea. . Later, the duty rumble of explosions was heard on the Kent coast, and soon afterwards a large number of planes passed over the coast coming from the direction of France.—B.O.W.
