v BREEZY BOX REVUE AT

TRENTHAM

An appreciative audience greeted Mr. Buddy Langman and party when, under the direction of the executive committee of the Official Camp Entertainers, a variety programme was presented at Trentham Camr recently.

Mr. Bob Henry, now well known to the "boys," was the accompanist, and the following comprised the partyMrs, Milhan, Misses Kathleen Sawyer. Edna Matheson, Joy Jenssen, Inez Christie, Iris Coulson, Roma Partridge, Colleen Curtin; and Messrs. John Burt. Jack Christie, Sig Miles, Ken Matheson. Bill Harvey, and, working hard behind the scenes attending to the wardrobe. Mrs. Jones. Captain Heese, on behalf of the Camp Commandant, thanked Mr. Langman for his good show, and the party was entertained to supper by Major Gorton and officers of the No. 2 Training Unit. The executive wish to thank the Automobile Association. Mrs. Clarke. Miss Thompson, and Messrs. Donnelly Kyle, and Sa->sford for providing cars for transport, CONCERT LAST NIGHT. Last night the men at. Trentham | were entertained with a concert which was also arranged by the executive I committee of the Official Camp Entertainers. Mrs. A. Ginn was responsible for the programme and those who contributed items were Mrs Duncan, Miss Ena Rapley. Miss Una Weller, Miss Ethel Gibson, Miss Veronica Pitcher Miss Maureen O'Connor, Miss Joan Sargent, and Miss Merle Jones. Elocutionary items, songs, and dancing made up an attractive programme Miss Ethel Gibson was vigorously encored for her violin solos and singing Mrs, Ginn was accompanist. At the conclusion, of the concert, Captain Bale, on behalf of the Camp Commandant, thanked the performers, who were entertained to supper by Captain Bale and officers. The executive wish to thank the Automobile Association. Mrs. McGillivray, Miss M Neave. Mr. Tobin. Mr. Appleyard. and Mr, Delley for providing cars for transport. Dr. G. H. Scholefield was the guest ispeaker at a recent meeting of the John o' London Literary Club. His address, which was entitled "Fiction in New Zealand Literature," was enlivened with humorous incidents from his= own and the lives of other New ZeaJand writers. Dr Scholefield gave many helpful suggestions on short story writing, and the members took full I advantage of his wide experience by j plying him with questions. j
