BELIEVED DESTROYED
ATTACKING U-BOAT
OPINION IN ICELAND
LONDON, September 8,
The Associated Press correspondent at Reykjavik, Iceland, says British and American officers believe that the American destroyer Greer sank the U-boat which attacked her.
They discount statements to the contrary from Berlin as deliberately misleading.
Meanwhile, British and American warships are collaborating in combing the scene of the incident, because the U-boat, if not sunk, could not yet have reached port.
