BACK ON FRIDAY
THE PRIME MINISTER
RECEPTION IN AUCKLAND
(P.A.)
AUCKLAND, Sept. 8.
The Anzac Clipper, one of the latest Boeing models to be added to the PanAmerican Airways fleet, is due at Auckland on Friday from San Francisco. The Anzac Clipper, which has been operating on the route to Singapore, has not been to Auckland before.
In addition to the Prime Minister (Mr. Fraser), and Messrs. C. A. Berendseri and B. Turner, members of his party, the passengers include Mr. Hallett Abend, who was for 14 years correspondent of the "New York Times" in the Far East.
Arrangements are being made for a civic reception to be given to the Prime Minister in the Auckland Town Hall on Friday night. The Mayor, Mr. Allum, said he was extending an invitation to the public to be present. The Government would be represented at the function, possibly by Mr. Nash, and the Services and other organisations would also be represented.
The Acting Prime Minister (Mr. Nash) stated today that he would go to Auckland to meet Mr. Fraser, leaving Wellington either on Thursday night or Friday morning.
Mr. Nash said he thought that Mr. Fraser would either leave for Wellington by air on Saturday morning or by train on Saturday afternoon.
