SINGLE MAN'S APPEAL
(P.A.) AUCKLAND, Sept 8. A letter from a farmer stating that he was working, a 270-acre ,farm by himself since two brothers wex*e called up was received by the Auckland District Council of Primary Production, today. The writer asked the council to support his appeal. • • . Mr. A. Best said that encouraging appeals by single men meant hastening the time when married men would be called up. The chairman, Mr. R. C. Clark, said the' Government would have to decide how far it was going to, allow ~ land and stock to go back during the war. The council's main concern was that of primary production. After discussion the council decided, on the chairman's suggestion, to advise the Crown representative on the Armed Forces. Appeal Board that the appeal appeared to have merits. -
