Macalister, a member of the Wellington Beautifying Society, is the society's official nominee for the Loder Cup. The cup is open for competition annually to the whole of New Zealand, both organisations and individuals, and isf awarded for the most meritorious act during the year, or for work which has culminated in the year in furthering the' sentiments of the donor —to encourage the protection and cultivation 'of the flora of the Dominion. Mr. Macalister, in work outside the scope of the society, has done much beautifying in the Marlborough Sounds district.
