WELLINGTON OPPOSITION
A largely-attended meeting of members of the Wellington division of the New Zealand branch of the British Medical Association decided to oppose the amendments to thet Social Security Act which provide for the institution of a general practitioner medical service and for the abolition of private practice. The opposition, it was stated subsequently, is based mainly on the belief that the proposals before Parliament are an unwarranted interference with the liberty of the subject. The opinion was also expressed that to support such proposals would be a betrayal of the members of the Wellington division now on active service. /
