ROUND THE WHARVES

VICEREGAL TOUR

An official call was made on the Wellington Harbour Board this morning by his Excellency the GovernorGeneral, Sir Cyril Newall, and Lady Newall. Their Excellencies, who were attended by Captain C. J. HollandMartin, were received by the chairman of the board, Mr. W. H. Price, by Mr. S. W. Reed, acting chief executive officer, and Captain H. G. Petersen, harbourmaster. In the board-room their Excellencies were introduced to members of the board and executive officers, and signed the visitors' book.-

The party then proceeded by car along the wharves, inspecting on the way several. of the big sheds and the facilities for working overseas vessels. After the floating dock had, been inspected, the party boarded a launch and returned to the Queen's Wharf after a cruise as far as Oriental Bay.

At an informal gathering in the board-room afterwards, their Excellencies looked at some old photographs of Wellington. They expressed themselves as well pleased with their visit, and said that they hoped later on, when the weather was more genial, to make a more extensive tour round the harbour by launch.
