810-DYNAMIC FARMING
i The bio-dynamic methods of agriculture, as advocated by Dr. Rudolf Steiner and put into increasingly successful operation in many parts of the world, including New Zealand, were described by Mr. B. Roberts, M.P., in ah address to members of the Theosophical Society on Sunday last. These methods aim at a return to more natural methods of treating the soil. Properly made compost replaces the chemical stimulants now so largely used, the latter tending to make the soil unhealthy and to encourage disease and pests. The bio-dynamic methods, if used with an intelligent rotation of crops, restore vitality to a depleted soil, whereas the present methods exhaust the soil and sacrifice quality for quantity in the crops. Mr. Roberts, who is practising the bio-dynamic methods in the Wairarapa, remarked that one of the major problems of reconstruction in the New World Order would be the regeneration of the sott which had been robbed and exploited in ignorance and greed. ,
