Her Excellency Lady Newall presided at a meeting of the National Patriotic Council this morning.
His Excellency the GovernorGeneral received Mr. J. L. Menzies .(Acting Australian Trade Commissioner) .
During, the morning their Excellencies the Governor-General and Lady Newall, attended by Captain C. J. Holland-Martin, inspected the wharves, dock, and other facilities of the Wellington Harbour Board.
The Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, M.L.C., has been re-elected chairman of the Nelson Education Board.
Cabled advice has been received that Mr. Keith Gerard, son of Mr. S. Gerard, of Northland, who left New Zealand last August under the B scheme for service with the Royal Navy, has been commissioned as sub-lieutenant, R.N.V.R.
