DOCTOR AT RUNANGA

APPOINTMENT MADE

(0.C.) GREYMOUTH, Aug. 17. j Following the projected departure of the resident medical officer, Dr. E. H. Densem, for Timaru, the greatest difficulty has been experienced in securing a medical man to replace him at Runanga. Failing the appointment of a successor, an attitude of "No doctor, no work" was to have been adopted in I the coming week by the union.

This possibility has now, however, been, overcome, it having been announced at a meeting of the medical society this morning, at which Mr. J. O'Brien, M.P., was present, that, a successor had been obtained. He will arrive on Tuesday. He is fully qualified and is practising under British Medical Association credentials.

A similar position arose at Brunnerton, due to the early departure of Dr. M. R. Sneddon, and here also a replacement has been effected. Dr. Sneddon completes his duties next week.
