■ This afternoon her Excellency Lady Newall met the executive and representatives of the New Zealand Nurses' Christian Union at the Pioneer Club.

This morning his Excellency the Governor-General attended Divine service at the Cathedral Church of St. Paul.
This afternoon her Excellency Lady Newall was present at a concert organised by the New Zealand Academy of Fine Arts in aid of the Patriotic Fund.
Mr. S. Lawn has been elected president of the Dunedin Chamber or Commerce.
Dr. J. H. Blakelock, formerly of Shanghai, who has been appointed medical officer of health for Taranaki in succession to Colonel F. W. W. Dawson, will take up his appointment in Taranaki at the end of the month.
Captain R. M. Gladney, officer commanding thf defence forces of the Cook Islands, has arrived at Auckland from Rarotonga to undergo a refresher course. Mrs. Gladney and their two children, who accompanied him, will proceed to San Francisco.
Commander A. B. Fanshawe, A.D.C., R.N., second naval member of the New Zealand Naval Board, has returned to Wellington from Auckland.
