A FIGHTER SWEEP
THIRTEEN NAZI PLANES DOWN
RUGBY, August 14. Late this afternoon R.A.F. fighters carried out a sweep over the coast of northern France. In the course of this operation 13 enemy fighters were destroyed. Three of our fighters are | missing.—8.0. W.

The Germans so far have not r- •■-- pied any place of the least impor in this sector, but with the Ger i advances in the north and the drive in the Ukraine it is undeniable that the Russians are passing through the difficult period which everyone in Moscow had anticipated for this month. The fighting powers of the Soviet armies are, nevertheless, still unim- : paired, and they are preparing for th» long winter campaign.
