STERLING EXCHANGE HIGHER

The return of the Keserre Bank of New Zealand for the week ended August 11 shows changes on the week as under. Sterling exchange at £15,304,128 has Increased by £394,852, and compares with £12.232,197 at the corresponding date of last year. Advances to the State for purposes other than marketing show a reduction this week of £500,000 to 4i 18,500,000. The note issue Is increased by £74,123. Movements in the return for this week are as follows:— LIABILITIES.

Proportion of reserve to notes , and other demand liabilities, 39.918 per cent., compared with 39 181 per cent for the week ended August 4 1941. and 36 154 per cent, for the week ended August 12, 1940. The statutory limit is 25 per cent.
