PARCELS FOR TROOPS

LETTERS OF APPRECIATION

Appreciation of the gift parcels assembled' by the provincial patriotic councils and dispatched by the National Patriotic Fund Board to the New Zealand Forces 'Overseas is expressed in letters from soldiers received by the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council.

The following are extracts from two letters received recently:—"We got our patriotic parcels the other day and I got one from Auckland, which was very good. One thing we are getting now is plenty of fruit, oranges, and New Zealand apples. They are good, too."

"Thank you for the very nice parcel, I received today. The contents were just what I wanted as we have not been back from Greece very long and perhaps you know that we came out of that country with very few belongings, so of course your parcel could not have arrived at a better time. I often think that if the folks back home could see the lads when parcels arrive, it would please them, as it is like the days of Santa Claus all over again."

Mr. Vincent Ward, M.L.C., honorary secretary of the Wellington Provincial Patriotic Council, stated today that the parcels referred to were those dispatched from New Zealand in March last.
