VITAL STATISTICS
An increase in the number of births; but a falling-off in deaths and marriages, is revealed in the vital 'Statistics for the Wellington district for the second quarter of this year, as compared with the figures for the corresponding period of last year. The figures are as follows, with' last year's figures in parentheses:—Births, 749 (668); deaths, 352 (369); marriage notices, 513 (679); marriages by Registrar, 122 (162). For June of this year and last, the figures are: Births, 241 (200); deaths, 139 (110); marriage notices, 163 (221); marriages by Registrar, 40.(49).
