GERMANS INFURIATED

(Rec. 2.30 p.m.)

LONDON, July 2,

"The Istanbul correspondent of "The Times" says that the Germans, in an attempt to humiliate BritishT>risoners in Greece, forced them to clean the streets of Athens, with 'the unexpected result that the prisoners became the centre \of popular demonstrations of hero-worship. Infuriated, the Germans placed two armed soldiers near every streetcleaner and threatened to shoot if the crowds showed the slightest sign of interest in the prisoners.
