SLOW BUSINESS

MOTOR REGISTRATION

.So far the registration of motor vehicles and the issuing of licences for 1941-42 at the combined Post Office and City Council bureau at the Concert Chamber have been slow, the registrations being about a thousand behind those of last year at the same stage. This appears to be the position at other centres as well.

This year the registration and licensing will be for 13 months, in order to spread the rush at Post Office counters, due to car registration and social security payments, over two months instead of one month in future, and it is thought by officials at the bureau that a good many motorists are waiting until the end of June to save the payment of the month's share of registration and licence fees.

Uncertainty as to the allowance of petrol after June is thought to be another reason why some car owners are holding back.
