PEOPLE'S MOVEMENT

CHAMBER OF COMMERCE DECISION

Regret that the Wellington Chamber of Commerce should reject an "opportunity of co-operating in a strong move to try and bring about a truly National Government and the postponement of the General Election," is expressed in a statement issued by the People's Movement. The Chamber of Commerce last night rejected an invitation by the People's Movement to join a deputation to the Acting Prime Minister and the bLeader of the Opposition to urge the necessity .for the formation of a National. Government and the postponement of the election. • "The People's Movement would stress for the public's benefit that the invitation was made by a non-party organisation to non-political bodies as well as to the general public," says the statement. "It is just this attitude of neutrality towards the desire of a great proportion of the people of New Zealand that is sustaining disunity and regarding the" war effort. We would point out the widening' of the world tragedy by the very weakness of neutrality. "The People's Movement has formulated a sound proposal for achieving national unity and calls upon organisa-
