PEOPLE WANT UNITY

I (To the Editor.) Sir, —The results of the local body elections, with all attendant sectional strife, reflect determination to make our little country safe for freedom and a far greater measure of security for all concerned. Now, if at any moment in our history we surely deserve a National Government. By a National Government I mean one on whose composition and councils mere party considerations have no influence. We need the best men at the helm, irrespective of party and selfish issues, if we New Zealandefs are all to play our full part in helping to destroy the soul-destroying Hitler monster. Hitler and the German peoples are at one, and for us it would be just as wrong to assume they are not,' as it would be silly to believe we can afford to indulge in elections of any I kind. Only a long overdue National Government will end sectional strife and unify this Dominion to safeguard our democratic rights from being crushed and destroyed. This should be one of chief war aims. What are we waiting for?-—I am, etc., T. A. FRASER.
