CLOSER CO-OPERATION
FEDERATION PROPOSED
Suggestions for the closer co-opera- ; I tion of primary producers' organisations were considered at a conference ■ held in the offices of the New Zealand Farmers' Union in Wellington. The following resolutions were adopted:— "That this conference affirms the necessity of the several sections of primary producers' organisations cooperating closely for the purpose of I promoting the best interests of all proiducers." ' "That this conference is convinced that the future welfare of the primary industries of New Zealand is dependent on the better and closer organisation of farmers and farmers' organisations, and strongly urges that every primary producers' annual conference and annual meeting agree to the early establishment of a farmers' federation." "To this end a representative committee be set up immediately to evolve a plan of campaign and. a tentative constitution for such a federation." The conference decided that the executive should consist of eleven members, distributed among organisations as follows:—Meat Board and Electoral College (2 members); Dairy Board and Dairy Council (2); Sheepowners' Federation (1); 'Poultry Board (1); Fruit Board (1); Pig Council (1); bobby calf pools (1); New Zealand Farmers' Union (1); honey, tobacco, small fruits (1). The personnel of the committee will be:—Meat Board and Electoral College (names of the two members to be announced); Dairy, Board and Dairy Council, Messrs. W. E. Hale and W. Marshall; Sheepowners' Federation, Mr. H. D. Acland; Poultry Board (name of member to be announced); Fruit Board, Mr. T. C Brash; Pig Council, Mr. T. J. Davies: bobby calf pools. Mr. W. G. Belton: New Zealand Farmers' Union. Mr. W. W. Mulholland; honey, tobacco. a:iri small fruits, Mr. K. J. Holyoake. The following were appointed an executive committee with power to j co-opt representatives of or«anisr>fions with special knowledge:—Messrs. W. E. Hale, T. Duncan, H. D. Acland. W. W. Mulholland.. W. Marshall, and T. C Brash.
