Bridge Party for Patriotic Cause. Patriotic funds benefited from the bridge party held recently by the Wellington Travel Club at its room in the T. and G. Building. A prize for the highest score was donated by Mrs. T. M. Donovan and Mrs. J. Southward contributed to the afternoon tea. News From Home. "The Post's" London correspondent writes that Mrs. J. Budge (Taihape), who was formerly a member of the nursing staff of Pukeoru Sanatorium, Waipukurau, has a nursing home in Hampshire and another at Kew. A delightful Queen Anne mansion, the house in Hampshire is set in the most attractive surroundings. One of her patients is Mrs. Edward Wilson, widow of the late Dr. Edward Wilson, who died with Scott in the Antarctic. Mrs. Budge was formerly Miss Alice Stubbing. Townswomen at Karori. Mrs. Howe-Martin, of England, in an interesting talk at the May meeting of the Karori Townswomen's , Guild (Dom. Fed.) chose as her subject "Women in Civic Life." Mrs. Bowe sang and an amusing sketch was given by the Drama Circle. Mrs. Ray won the cooking competition of the i "Best value for Is."
