REDUCED LIGHTING. IN terms of the Lighting Restrictions Emergency Regulations, 1941, and by direction of the Dominion Controller, I give notice:— (1) That with regard to shop windows not directly visible from the open sea, the lighting must be so reduced that the intensity measured four feet from the ground and six feet from the shop window does not exceed 0.1 (onetcntli) of a foot-candle. (2) That light sources in shop windows must be mounted behind a pelmet of opaque material or paint in such position or height as to render such light source invisible from the street or the outside of the shop window. (3) That where lights inside a shop or business premises shine directly on to the pavement or street, they are to be so screened or reduced as to bring the resultant illumination clown to the standard In Clause (1) of this notice. (4) That all under-verandah lights, of any nature, are to cease to burn between sunrise and sunset. (5) The premises of the Electricity Department, corner of Bowen Street and Lambton Quay, may bo taken as a window which complies with the new regulations. Further windows wiil be arranged to this standard during the week. (C) This order applies to all shops or business premises and is not confined only to the central business area. (7) That in connection with the control of light, Wardens under the Emergency Precautions Scheme, and Officers of the Electricity Department acting under direction of the Local Lighting Controller, are vested with authority to make visits, Inspect, advise, and require that I he provisions of the Lighting Restrictions Err.'.rgency Regulations, 194.1. and of tills order, are complied with.
