COLD CHANGE
SOUTHERLY SHOWERS
Special forecast for Wellington:—
A change to strong southcrlies tonight.
Temperatures becoming much colder, with heavy showers developing.
The further outlook is for a rapid but temporary improvement.
The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole is for strong westerly winds at first in the North Island. Otherwise fresh to strong southwesterly to southerly winds will prevail,, but later they will decrease and turn mqre westerly in direction in the far south. Cold, changeable, and showery conditions will become general within the next 24 to 36 hours, with snow down to low levels in the South Island and on the North Island ranges. There will be a temporary improvement, however, in Westland, Southland, and Otago.
Winds between north-west and southr west have been strong at times. Apart from some light rain in the Auckland Province and some showers in Westland and Southland, the weekend weather was mainly fair to fine. A more definite south-westerly change, however, brought snow showers and very cold temperatures this morning to the southern half of the South Island. Wellington had a fine weekend, .with temperatures ranging between 60.5 and 48.7 degrees. Sunshine on Saturday totalled 8.4 hours, and on Sunday 6.9 hours. The rainfall to date this month totals 3.14 inches. v SUN, MOON, AND TIDES.
