SWEPT FROM ROCK
YOUNG MAN DROWNED
(P.A.) ~,,. AUCKLAND, (May 18. Swept -'off/a ."flat projecting rock by an unusually large- wave while fishing at White's Bay, Piha, on Saturday afternoon, a young married,man, Curry Banks, aged 24, of Henderson, was drowned. He was employed as a roadgrader driver. Accompanied by two friends, the deceased started fishing from a ledge about 3 p.m.', and an hour later, when he turned his back to the sea for. a moment, he was washed off.'
The repairers of the Poble lifeboat which went to Dunkirk have refused to make any charge for their work.
