THE HOSPITAL BOARD

LABOUR HAS TWO SEATS

CITIZENS WIN IN THE CITY

Labour has now two seats on the Wellington Hospital Board, Mrs. S. E. Blake being re-elected from Petone and Mrs. E. H. Gandy represents Makara County and the Johnsonville Town Board district, but all 13 city seats were taken by Citizens' candidates with long margins over the Labour candidates. Independent and Communist candidates were not in the running at all. Labour has always attached great importance to strong representation on the Hospital Board, and their defeat in the city on this issue is even more striking than the City Council landslide.
