THE HUTT VALLEY
BATTLE OF TICKETS
VICTORY FOR CITIZENS
In the Hutt Valley, the elections were rather "ticket against ticket" than personal contests, and Labour suffered a heavy defeat. For the Lower
Hutt City Council, which had three Labour members, the Citizens' candidates were aIJ elected. .In Petone, t v Labour representation was reduced from three to two. Upper Hutt re-elected its Labour Mayor, bui trie council has a non-Labour majority. The Eastbourne election was not a "political" one, >and all the former members who stood were re-elected. No Labour '■ representatives were elected for the Hutt Valley Power Board; and the Petone and Lower Huti Gas Lighting Board, which formerly included four Labour members, now has two, one from each town. All the Labour candidates for the Hutt River Board and for the avail able.seats on the Harbour Board were defeated. Petone elected one of the two Labour candidates returned for the Wellington Hospital Board. LOWER HUTT MAYORALTY. *J. W. Andrews (C.) 3623 H. V. Ilorlor (L.) 2419 Majority 1204 CITY COUNCIL. H. S.
