HERE and THERE
Sixty-five Years Married. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. R. Dale, Worcester Street, Christchurch, celebrated the .sixty-fifth anniversary of their wedding last week by entertaining about 70 relatives and friends. Among numerous messages of congratulation was a cablegram from the King and Queen. A congratulatory telegram was also received from the Governor-General, Sir Cyril Newall. Unusual Conditions at Star Dance. Members of the Star Boating Club and Red Cross transport section held simultaneous dances at the Star Club on Saturday and the rooms above the boathouse were crowded with friends of both groups. The two committees collaborated and divided the proceeds. The locker-room, where buffet supper was served, was also used as a be-tween-dances rendezvous and was hung, with bunting. Mrs. V. Hole, commandant of the transport section, and Mr. H. A. Lowe, captain of the Star Club, and Mrs. Lowe, were among the guests.

Mrs. H. Jowett, president of the central branch, presided at the annual meeting of the Miramar Plunket Society sub-corn nittee recently, and complimented the society on. the success of the year's work. Nurse Sam-j son.;gave a talk'on',Vthe;.; : work of the j Plunket Society, arid Nurse Beverley and Miss Quin (secretary, Wellington Plunket Society) were also present. Items were given by Mrs. Ody, Miss Beere, Masters Frank Johnson and Wellington Choy, and supper was served by the , hostesses. Apollo Women's Club. A musical programme was arranged by Mrs. W. M. Sunley for a recent meeting of the Apollo Women's Club. 'Cello solos were played by Miss Tui McLeod, and songs were sung by Mrs. Connolly and Miss Una Thomas. The accompanists for the evening were Mrs. Caldwell and Mrs. Connolly. t
