Credit for the shortened route to Kavori through Bowen Street and Sydney Street was due to the Labour Party,' said Mr. A. Parlane, a candidate, for the City Council, speaking at Karori. Repeated requests had been made to previous Governments for authority for the deviation, but they were refused for various reasons, the principal one being that running trams through Bowen Street would disturb the sittings of Parliament.- When the Labour Government was returned, it readily granted permission, and Karori people were enjoying the benefits of a route for which they had agitated for years.
Injuries from which he died-in hospital this, morning were suffered , by Brian Patterson, aged nine, of Paraparaumu Valley, when his cycle was involved in a collision with a car in Paraparaumu shortly *after 6 o'clock last night. He was taken to hospital by the Free Ambulance,
